Luna

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

My sweet friend Luna is looking for a new home. Do you know someone who might be looking for a 3 year old lab/husky mix? She’s super calm and great around children and other dogs. Please send me a message if you are interested! Thanks!

Please see Jacklyn Burgan’s post on our facebook page to message.  Or contact me if that’s too complicated.

She’s really lovely.

Her Story:  ”My friend adopted Luna from the Humane Society a few years ago before he and his wife started having children. Both of them are super busy with their full time jobs and their young daughter, and they’ve just found out they have another baby on the way. In addition to his full time job, my friend is also a full time grad student at night. Between all of these activities, he feels that Luna is being neglected and not getting the attention or exercise she needs. He and his wife would rather not give her away, but they feel incredibly guilty about not having the time to devote to her that she deserves. It’s sad because they love her, but they just don’t feel like they are taking care of her the way she needs to be taken care of.”20531_650134199298_60714777_36406322_5622747_n

Very Sweet, Kid Friendly female kitty needs a home

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Update Mon, March 8th:  Sadly, this sweet kitty is no longer….she was hit by a car.

This cat needs a good home!  She showed up at a vet clinic that only treats horses, no small animals.  There are two employees who are allergic and the clinic has motion sensors on their alarm system so she can’t stay over night.  She appears to be young 2 ish…That’s all I know…email me and I can get you in touch with the clinic.

Little Miss Blue Eyes is Looking For A Home

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

This puppy was found one morning in mid-January curled up in the pine straw underneath a bench. She was in severe pain due to an injured rear leg. We suspect she may have been hit by a car the night before, but will never know for sure.  A kind neighborhood vet (Dr. Carlson at Intown Animal Hospital) agreed to examine her, and after taking x-rays it was determined that her femur was broken. Surgery was scheduled and two metal pins were used to successfully re-secure her hind leg.

Ella (as she is now called) is now confined to a crate for the next 3-5 weeks in order for her leg to properly heal.  She is undergoing therapy twice a day on her leg (icing and stretches) in order to help the muscles strengthen.   She is a loving girl and is expected to make a full recovery after her confinement period ends.  Despite her unfortunate circumstances early on, she maintains a terrific outlook on life.   She is affectionate, loves to have her belly rubbed and will give you as many kisses as you can stand.  Her bright blue eyes are always twinkling and her tail continues to wag.

We believe Ella is a Husky/Shepherd/Lab mix and will probably grow to be 65+ pounds.  At approx. 4 1/2 months old, she weighs 23 lbs.  She is curious about other dogs and wants to play with them.

At the end of her 3-5 weeks confinement, she will be ready for a new home where she can play and be a normal puppy again.  If you are interested in having her become a part of your family, or know someone who might be, please contact JP at 404-441-3864 or jppurdy@aol.com.
